Hey Everyone, It has been a long time since my last update. So, finally, I am updating where do I start? The past two months have been interesting and fun. February 7th, I had the honor of working with Ricky Steamboat, Harley Race, and Les Thatcher (who feels I have the coolest haircut for a ref). This took place at PWF Northeasts Genesis III. I was an outside official during the main event, while Ricky was the special guest referee. Aside from that, it was an awesome experience sharing a locker room with these three, listening to their stories and whatever else they had to say or any advice they had to give. PWF Northeast has started working with TV Tapings. For more information on that, visit: http://www.pwfnortheast.com On the 13th, I was in Framingham, MA working for New England Championship Wrestling. I am glad to see my good friend Michael Pierce land a slot as substitute ring announcer for the night. He has been ring-announcing Ringside Wrestling, as well as Wrestling Alliance of Mayhem as of late. Keep up the good work Michael! Yesterday was a long day! I woke up at 6:00 am to get myself some time to get ready to head to Pawtucket, RI. Slamtech Wrestling worked on a few more weeks of Slamtech TV tapings. There has been twelve weeks of half hour TV slots created. There is more to come from this soon. http://www.slamtechwrestling.com After the Slamtech TV tapings were done, I hung around the area for a while as Slamtech TV crew worked on photos and promos for the website and tv/video. After it was done, I took off with Timothy Pittman to Plainfield, CT for Ringside Wrestling. We were very early, so we stopped in a That Pizza Place to hang out and kill some time. Ringside Wrestling had an awesome event, as NECW President Sheldon Goldberg was in attendance of Ringside Wrestling last night to announce an affiliation. Ringside Wrestling joins Slamtech Wrestling in developing future stars of NECW. RW also has a website in the works. Even though I havent really followed sports much, ever Ive kind of been missing baseball. I actually did watch and follow during the play offs this past season a little bit. The thing is I played five seasons of minor league baseball when I was a kid. However, the fifth season I probably should not have played. My last season in I was suffering severe scoliosis, which caused sever back pains, which slowed me down. I had back surgery the year after, and did not play any sports at all for year. Any sports I participated in were in gym classes. So one day going through a sporting goods store to buy some of my referee gear, I pass by the baseball goods. I remembered of how I enjoyed playing, and sitting in major league baseball games. Im not saying that Ill be the hardcore baseball fan, but I will be watching more often.
I guess close off by remembering an old acquaintance. None of you know her to my knowledge. Betsie Hughes was my classmate in 4th grade, and half of high school. Though we both lived in two different worlds, she was nice to everyone around her. I was reading the Sunday paper about a month ago, and there was an article about her mother doing drunk driving education seminars in the local communities. Betsie was killed by a drunk driver a little over five years ago. I was reminded of the day I got the news. To say I was devastated would be a lie. I was not close friends with Betsie, and did not know her all that well, but I always thought highly of her. From the article, I learned a little more about her. I learned that she would have been something good for the world, and would have been attending the same college I went to. This is nothing I dwell on, because I know shes going to a good place. Well, there's not much else to say. I'll be back another time. -Dan Tanaka |
